The Key to Change
So often our focus is on doing things well the first time. Of perfection. Of the outside (and the inside) perception. Then we stumble, things go less than perfectly, and that’s often when we get stuck.
But the magic truly lies in coming back.
This thought has come up for me numerous times in the last few days. It started with re-entering a study of formal mindfulness, where the focus is literally on being with what is and coming back when a distraction occurs. Since then I’ve had 3 different conversations where this has come up for someone.
I always say that if I work with a client and they never have to “begin again” or “come back” to their focus during our time together then our coaching is not complete.
In life it is often the coming back where we get stuck and overwhelmed and give up. We can often ROCK a plan when everything is laid out perfectly, but when it’s not??? So the ability to come back is a huge skill to have!
From a neurological perspective there is even more reason for the importance of coming back. When you come back again and again you are building a new neural pathway, one that will help you return more easily in the future.
